Barefoot in the lounge

Sometimes you want to kick off your shoes and enjoy a nice cup of coffee, no matter that you're surrounded by undergraduates and it's cold as Satan's member outside.

  1. Kick off your shoes. Unburden yourself with song. Tell each other tales. Dance around the table. Leave the cleaning up for the morning. Then go outside and look at the stars.

  2. KICK UP YOUR HEELS (Kick up) or KICK OFF YOUR SHOES (Kick off)

Kick-up generally means doing things that give us pleasure. Some of us kick up when we are happy by dancing. Obtaining this is done often by getting our legs high off the ground.

Kick-off (not football’s beginning) states someone takes an item off one’s feet without hands. In slang terms, it refers to being overcome with anger or starting an argument, and a fight erupts. As for today, kick-off means to take off one’s shoes after a difficult day and unwind.
